The ‘Münchner Freiheit’ – a transport hub and gateway to Altschwabing – is one of the busiest squares in Munich, a place to linger and shop.

Trams and buses arrive and depart here every minute, and there is also a cycle lane and pedestrian areas.
Münchner Freiheit - Tram 23
The Münchner Freiheit tram stop is a white and green steel structure that forms an open pillared hall with elegant, funnel-shaped arches. From here, Tram 23 takes just eight minutes to reach Frankfurter Ring. This is an improvement on the same trip by car, making the tram a popular means of transportation to the city centre. Tram 23 crosses the Munich Ring Road, and the 84 metre long Schenkendorf Bridge, an impressive asymmetric cable-stayed bridge.
