The main station, which is used by around 450,000 travellers and commuters every day, is set to become a modern transport hub and an attractive gateway to the city. The main station will be better connected to the old town and its pedestrian zone, and is set to form the culmination of the new neighbourhoods on the central railway site. The modernisation also presents an opportunity to make the station square more appealing, reorganise traffic flow and create more cycle parking spaces.
