Building community "gemeinsam freiham"
Affordable, compact flats with family-friendly layouts and communal spaces and gardens – that was and remains the aim of the “gemeinsam freiham” GbR building cooperative. Thirty-three flats of varying sizes on Marie-Luise-Jahn-Straße, on plot WA 3, covering around 4,350 square metres of floor space, have been completed. They are spread across four- or five-storey buildings and each has a terrace or balcony. The timber-hybrid houses meet at least the KfW 55 energy efficiency standard, as they were built using energy-efficient construction methods. At “gemeinsam freiham”, all residents contribute to the funding of the shared areas and spaces. There are communal rooms, workshops for pottering about and carrying out repairs, as well as rooms for guests and parties. All flats were built under the former “München Modell Eigentum” subsidy scheme.
