Riemer Park
Covering an area of 210 hectares, Riemer Park is Munich’s third-largest city park after the English Garden and Nymphenburg Palace Park. It is shaped like a semicircle open to the north and stretches for around four kilometres. “Green fingers” extend deep into the built-up areas. Together with the Alpine panorama, Riemer Park offers a visual landscape experience and is ideal for walking, jogging and even tobogganing. This is because two viewing and tobogganing hills were constructed using rubble from the former airport. Another attraction is Riemer See, which is a popular bathing spot and meeting place in summer. The main paths, lined with meadows and small oak and pine woods, are so straight that they are reminiscent of the runways that used to be laid out not far from here. 210 additional trees were planted to the east of the bathing lake to help adapt to climate change, 70 larger trees were added to the bathing beach, and 2,300 square metres of species-rich herb meadow have been promoting biodiversity since summer 2026. As the Federal Horticultural Show took place in Riemer Park in 2005, it is often also referred to as BUGA Park.
